This little cow girl is an absolute character. Dottie is funny, playful, and has one very important passion in life: WATER.

Meet Vinny — our brand-new arrival and a 1-year-old terrier mix who is outgoing, lovable, ridiculously sweet, and ready to make you his new best friend.

His brother Taz got SNATCHED UP before they even hit the website! 😂 So while Taz is already busy packing his bags for his forever home, Vinny is sitting here wondering what the hell just happened.

This guy is great with dogs, loves people, and has the kind of happy, goofy personality with typical terrier sass.

This sweet boy made his way to us from our friends at Palms N Paws, and it didn’t take long for everyone here to fall in love with him.

That little cleft lip? We honestly don’t know how anyone could resist it. It’s one of the sweetest things we’ve ever seen.

Starting over can be scary, but Wyclef is safe, loved, and surrounded by people who can’t wait to help him find the family he’s always deserved. We have a feeling his forever home is out there, and when they meet him, they’ll know he’s the one.

We just welcomed this handsome scruffy guy from our friends at Palms N Paws, and we’re already completely smitten. Brax is the definition of a love bug—happy, affectionate, and always ready to make a new friend.

This sweet boy just turned 2 years old, loves people, gets along great with other dogs, and is more than ready to trade his kennel for a couch (or your bed… he won’t complain).

If you’ve been looking for a loyal best friend with a whole lot of charm and an adorable scruffy face, Brax might just be your guy.

Meet ROSIE!!! ❤️

We really don’t know what breeds are in this girl! Great Pyrenees, Pointer, Border collie..?

What we do know is Rosie is the SWEETEST. Like, instantly-your-best-friend, full-body-tail-wag, wants-to-love-you-forever kind of sweet.

Rosie was surrendered in Palmdale because her owner “didn’t have time” for her, and she was literally HOURS away from being euthanized for space before we jumped in the car and brought her to safety.

She is incredibly friendly, affectionate, and absolutely loves her people. Rosie is super smart and currently crushing obedience training!

Below is a note from Rosie’s former Foster Dad:

“I know she’ll do great with a family who is seeking an energetic snuggly bear of a dog who loves to go for long hikes, car rides, and playing fetch.

She’s totally housebroken and an excellent watchdog and she’s been doing great with all the dogs in the neighborhood.”

She’s a huge ham and knows exactly how to steal the spotlight.

LOOK AT THIS BEAUTIFUL GIRL!

We were going to call her Carmella, which turned into Karma, but then we learned her name from her past life was Evie.

So why confuse her any more than she already is? 😥 She’s had enough change.

She can keep her name. 🐾🧡

Evie is a 7-year-old Malinois/Dutch Shepherd mix who was surrendered to Palms-N-Paws Animal Shelter because of a housing issue. When we heard about her, we knew right away that she needed to come to Joshua Tree.

Evie is a little reserved and shy at first, but give her a little time and she warms up. And give this girl a ball? 🎾 That’s when you really start to see her personality come out!

She’s great on leash, a fantastic traveler, house trained, knows sit and shake, LOVES the play yard and shows No aggression during handling.

We have such a soft spot for dogs like Evie. ❤️ They’ve spent their whole lives in a home, knowing nothing else, only to suddenly find themselves in a shelter. Evie deserves to feel safe again.

Meet Teddy Graham! 🤎🐾

We recently welcomed this handsome boy from one of our amazing partner shelters, and we’re already completely smitten!

Teddy Graham is an approximately 1-year-old Red Heeler/Cattle Dog mix with a fun-loving personality and a heart full of love. He’s great with other dogs, already neutered, and more than ready to find the family he’s been waiting for.

If you’ve been looking for an adventure buddy, hiking partner, or loyal best friend, Teddy G is waiting for you!

WINSTON 🐾

This handsome 9-month-old terrier mix is about 35 pounds and basically a big puppy with a whole lot of personality. 😂

Winston has your typical puppy energy — and needs someone who will keep working with him on his manners, but this boy is SO smart and learns incredibly fast. He already knows sit and down and you can tell he genuinely wants to learn more.

He’s dog-friendly, loves his neighbors, and once he got his wiggles out in the yard (and a few more out in the office 😆), he was perfectly happy to lay down and hang out with us.

And Winston has already been through more than a puppy should have to. He was the little guy who was found tied up outside Palms n Paws in 29 Palms in the middle of the night. 💔

Now he’s safe, and he’s ready for the next chapter — someone who will give him the structure, training, patience and love he needs to become the amazing dog we know he can be.

Winston is ready to learn, ready to play, and really ready for a family of his own!

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

Sweet Mitch came to us from 29 Palms with his sister, and while she has already found her forever home, this handsome 6-year-old Lab is still waiting for his turn.

Mitch has so much love to give. He knows sit, down, and speak, is house trained, and is working on putting on a little healthy weight.

He can be a bit of a kennel comedian—he barks because he REALLY wants to be with people. 😂 But once he’s out of his kennel and hanging around the office? Total opposite. This boy settles right in and basically sleeps the whole time.

And when you sit down on the floor? Forget it. Mitch is coming straight into your lap. He is a HUGE cuddle bug who just wants to be close to his people. ❤️

Here is his report from our volunteer that brought him to her office for the day!

“Mitch was an absolute star at the office today! He’s been nicknamed Nemo by my coworkers because of his small ear and the fact he was always up for an adventure and explore! He helped pack up some samples in our lab, helped out botanists protect our rare plants against bunnies and rodents by laying his claim out in our gardens (he peed on some good spots for us 😂) and he took his duty very seriously as chief officer of snuggles cuddles and kisses to everyone coming in and working in our building. During a very casual meeting I had we were on the floor (as meetings ought to be had) and he just immediately tucked his head under my chin snuggled in and started napping. Everyone was a big fan! He had no accidents inside and had very happy tappy feet to tell me when he needed out. There was no barking only happy/impatient whines when we were getting his leash on. He’s a bit strong on the leash when you first get him out and he’s excited but calms down after a bit and some correction. One of my coworkers kids came by and he was great with them didn’t try and jump just gave happy wiggles and tried to get some pets but kept looking and checking with me that he could continue to interact. He was very good at sit and lie down…when food was shown but recall was pretty good overall even when food wasn’t offered! He is gonna be an amazing snuggle bug for someone and I’m sure he’ll be nabbed up pretty quick once people meet him!”

FRED. 😍 99 POUNDS OF PURE LOVE.

Okay, we’re not exactly sure what Fred is. 😂 Akita? St. Bernard? A little bit of everything? Honestly, we need a DNA test because this 3-year-old, 99-pound hunk is one very interesting package!

But here’s what we DO know: Fred is really, really sweet. ❤️

This giant lovebug came in with his friend Wilma, who is recovering from surgery and will be getting her own spotlight very soon. Fred hasn’t met any other dogs at the shelter yet, so we’re taking that introduction process slowly.

When Fred comes out of his kennel, he gets pretty excited—because HELLO, FREEDOM! 😂 But once he’s in the play yard or hanging out in the office, he is surprisingly mellow and incredibly respectful of your space.

And then there’s the belly rub situation…

Fred will happily roll right over and say, “Yes, please. I’ll take one of those.” 🥹

He has a goofy play style, but when he’s just hanging out with you, he’s a big, chill, lovable dude.

Oh Dear..(Deer 🦌)

Are you guys ready for LOUIE? 🤎

Louie is a 1-year-old brindle Chihuahua/Italian Greyhound mix and this little guy has a BIG personality.

He LOVES his toys, will yell at you when he wants pets (which is often 😂), and wants to be right by his human’s side 24/7.

He’s super outgoing, loves everyone, has TONS of energy and is basically a little goofball. And the second you start petting him, he just melts. 🥹

Louie is getting neutered next weekend and will be ready to go home after that!

Wynona made it out just in time from another shelter—and now she’s here 💛

This approximately 3½-year-old Great Dane mix (not yet spayed) came to us at the end of the line at another shelter, and she’s more than ready for a fresh start.

She’s incredibly sweet, calm, and easy to love. The kind of dog that just wants to be near you and be part of your world.

Wynona does have a few medical things we’re working through with our vet, and she’s already starting to put weight back on and feel better every day.

She’s a really, really good dog who deserves a stable home and someone in her corner.

This beautiful 7-year-old girl, Desierto, came to us after leaving an unsafe and abusive home. She was literally abandoned in the middle of a contentious divorce and found alone in Landers.

Desi went into one of our foster homes, but the other cats weren’t exactly welcoming committee material. She was bullied and spent most of her time hiding under a bed. 💔

Luckily for all of us, Desi is back in the Cat Lounge—and WOW, what a difference! She is SO happy. In fact, she’s usually the very first cat to greet you when you walk in.

Come hang out with Desi. Give her some love, let her show you what a sweet girl she is, and maybe—just maybe—you’ll be the person who gives her what she’s been waiting for all along.

She deserves a forever home where she can finally settle in, be loved, and make this her last stop!

Harvey is equal parts comedian, cuddle bug, and gentleman. He’s curious, goofy, and has the kind of personality that makes you laugh without even trying. Whether he’s exploring the room, asking for attention, or perfecting his cat nap, he’s always entertaining.

Meet Katniss 🧡

This gorgeous tortie is the mama of our adorable “Birdcage” litter, who recently made the trip to us from our friends at the Yucca Valley Animal Shelter.

Katniss has done an incredible job raising her babies, and now it’s finally her turn to be spoiled. With her striking tortoiseshell coat and beautiful eyes, she’s even more stunning in person than photos can capture.

If you’re looking for a sweet, unique companion with a face you’ll never forget, come meet Katniss. We have a feeling you’ll fall in love the moment you see her!

Frida and her son, Pablo, were rescued together from the streets of Los Angeles, and now she’s waiting for her forever home.

Frida is a little shy at first, but once she’s comfortable, she loves playing with the other cats in our cat lounge. Give her a spring toy or a fuzzy mouse, and she’s perfectly happy entertaining herself for hours.

With her adorable little mustache and those big, curious eyes, she’s impossible not to fall for. She would make a sweet and happy addition to a loving home.

Who has always wanted a one-eyed kitty? Meet Cupid! 💘

Cupid came to us from Yucca Valley with half of an eyeball remaining after an old injury. Our friends at YV did everything they could for this sweet girl, but knew she would recover more comfortably with us.

We had the remainder of her eye removed, and this little angel is doing SO much better! She’s currently living the good life in a foster home, where she’s discovering just how wonderful being loved can be.

Cupid doesn’t let having one eye slow her down one bit. She’s happy, thriving, and ready to find the forever family she deserves.
