This sweet boy made his way to us from our friends at Palms N Paws, and it didn’t take long for everyone here to fall in love with him.

That little cleft lip? We honestly don’t know how anyone could resist it. It’s one of the sweetest things we’ve ever seen.

Starting over can be scary, but Wyclef is safe, loved, and surrounded by people who can’t wait to help him find the family he’s always deserved. We have a feeling his forever home is out there, and when they meet him, they’ll know he’s the one.

Welcome home for now, sweet boy. We’re so happy you’re here!

This boy is SO smart, he chose his own name! 😂 Meet BENNY! ❤️

Fresh from 29 Palms and just 10 weeks old, Benny is still keeping us guessing on the whole “what the heck are you?” situation. 😂 Dobie? Lab? A little bit of both? Who knows! We just know he is 100% CUTE.

This sweet little guy is settling in, figuring out the world, and already winning hearts everywhere he goes. 🥹🐾

Benny will be up for adoption next week — stay tuned because this little dude is going to be VERY hard to resist! ❤️

FRED. 😍 99 POUNDS OF PURE LOVE.

Okay, we’re not exactly sure what Fred is. 😂 Akita? St. Bernard? A little bit of everything? Honestly, we need a DNA test because this 3-year-old, 99-pound hunk is one very interesting package!

But here’s what we DO know: Fred is really, really sweet. ❤️

This giant lovebug came in with his friend Wilma. They both only know lives in a home, so this is pretty heartbraking for them.

When Fred comes out of his kennel, he gets pretty excited—because HELLO, FREEDOM! 😂 But once he’s in the play yard or hanging out in the office, he is surprisingly mellow and incredibly respectful of your space.

And then there’s the belly rub situation…

Fred will happily roll right over and say, “Yes, please. I’ll take one of those.” 🥹

He has a goofy play style, but when he’s just hanging out with you, he’s a big, chill, lovable dude.

Meet Wilma.

This sweet girl came to us from Yucca Valley Shelter after needing a cystotomy, and she’s officially recovered and ready for her next chapter.

Wilma is about 7 years old, around 80 pounds, and has the sweetest salt-and-pepper face. She’s a very mellow, very quiet, VERY gentle girl who would be perfectly happy spending her days lounging next to her person.

She’s used to being in a home, house trained, and has been wonderful with everyone she’s met. She’s also on a diet plan because she has a little weight to lose—Good with Kids, Dogs and Cats.

Wilma does need to stay on a prescription diet, but other than that, she’s basically 100000% GOOD GIRL.

If you’re looking for a calm, sweet companion who just wants to be near you, Wilma might be your girl!

Meet Vinny — a 1-year-old terrier mix who is outgoing, lovable, house broken AND crate trained.

This guy is great with dogs, loves people, and has the kind of happy, goofy personality with typical terrier sass. Terrier folks know what we are talking about!

LOOK AT THIS BEAUTIFUL GIRL!

We were going to call her Carmella, which turned into Karma, but then we learned her name from her past life was Evie.

So why confuse her any more than she already is? 😥 She’s had enough change.

She can keep her name. 🐾🧡

Evie is a 7-year-old Malinois/Dutch Shepherd mix who was surrendered to Palms-N-Paws Animal Shelter because of a housing issue. When we heard about her, we knew right away that she needed to come to Joshua Tree.

Evie is a little reserved and shy at first, but give her a little time and she warms up. And give this girl a ball? 🎾 That’s when you really start to see her personality come out!

She’s great on leash, a fantastic traveler, house trained, knows sit and shake, LOVES the play yard and shows No aggression during handling.

We have such a soft spot for dogs like Evie. ❤️ They’ve spent their whole lives in a home, knowing nothing else, only to suddenly find themselves in a shelter. Evie deserves to feel safe again.

Meet Teddy Graham! 🤎🐾

We recently welcomed this handsome boy from one of our amazing partner shelters, and we’re already completely smitten!

Teddy Graham is an approximately 1-year-old Red Heeler/Cattle Dog mix with a fun-loving personality and a heart full of love. He’s great with other dogs, already neutered, and more than ready to find the family he’s been waiting for.

If you’ve been looking for an adventure buddy, hiking partner, or loyal best friend, Teddy G is waiting for you!

Meet Lana! This approximately 1-year-old Beagle/Boston Terrier mix is such a unique girl!

And this girl is SMART. Really smart. She learns quickly, is eager to work, and loves having something to do. She has the kind of brain and energy that, with the right guidance, could probably have her flying through an agility course. 🐾

Let’s be honest about Lana. She is young, she has a lot of energy, and she needs someone who is willing to keep working with her. She needs regular, structured exercise, consistency, and someone who can give her the direction she needs to succeed.

Lana is currently in an extensive training program and she is doing fantastic!

Lana isn’t for someone looking for an easy, laid-back dog. She needs someone who enjoys a smart, active dog and wants to keep teaching her new things.

Sweet Mitch came to us from 29 Palms with his sister, and while she has already found her forever home, this handsome 6-year-old Lab is still waiting for his turn.

Mitch has so much love to give. He knows sit, down, and speak, is house trained, and is working on putting on a little healthy weight.

He can be a bit of a kennel comedian—he barks because he REALLY wants to be with people. 😂 But once he’s out of his kennel and hanging around the office? Total opposite. This boy settles right in and basically sleeps the whole time.

And when you sit down on the floor? Forget it. Mitch is coming straight into your lap. He is a HUGE cuddle bug who just wants to be close to his people. ❤️

Here is his report from our volunteer that brought him to her office for the day!

“Mitch was an absolute star at the office today! He’s been nicknamed Nemo by my coworkers because of his small ear and the fact he was always up for an adventure and explore! He helped pack up some samples in our lab, helped out botanists protect our rare plants against bunnies and rodents by laying his claim out in our gardens (he peed on some good spots for us 😂) and he took his duty very seriously as chief officer of snuggles cuddles and kisses to everyone coming in and working in our building. During a very casual meeting I had we were on the floor (as meetings ought to be had) and he just immediately tucked his head under my chin snuggled in and started napping. Everyone was a big fan! He had no accidents inside and had very happy tappy feet to tell me when he needed out. There was no barking only happy/impatient whines when we were getting his leash on. He’s a bit strong on the leash when you first get him out and he’s excited but calms down after a bit and some correction. One of my coworkers kids came by and he was great with them didn’t try and jump just gave happy wiggles and tried to get some pets but kept looking and checking with me that he could continue to interact. He was very good at sit and lie down…when food was shown but recall was pretty good overall even when food wasn’t offered! He is gonna be an amazing snuggle bug for someone and I’m sure he’ll be nabbed up pretty quick once people meet him!”

This handsome guy is one year old, neutered, housebroken, and READY TO GO!

Calvin was pulled from Palms N Paws in 29 Palms and arrived at the Joshua Tree No-Kill Shelter yesterday. We don’t know much about his past, but after spending a little time with him, one thing is pretty obvious…

This boy has some training! 👏

He walks beautifully, is calm and easygoing, and seems to have a really good understanding of how to be a gentleman. He’s an Ibizan Hound, neutered and housebroken — so far, Calvin is making a pretty great first impression. 😍

He’s only one year old and already seems so put together. Now he just needs someone to give him the forever home he deserves!

Meet Bunny, a 10-month-old Chihuahua (maybe a little Dachshund in there too? 👀) who came to us from a residence in Morongo Valley.

Bunny and her brother, Goose, are quite possibly the funniest, cutest little duo ever. Both are just ridiculously adorable. ❤️

And we’re telling you right now… Bunny is NOT going to be here long.

Okay, Goose… that FACE. 😍

Seriously. How are we supposed to get anything done when this little guy is looking at us like that?!

Goose is about 10 months old and a Chihuahua mix — maybe with a little Dachshund in there because those ears are doing some serious work. 😂

But Goose isn’t just a cute face. He’s a sweet, happy little guy who loves attention, enjoys being around people, and has the perfect amount of goofy puppy energy. He’s small, fun, affectionate and just an all-around easy little dude to fall for.

He came to us from a residence in Morongo Valley and now he’s ready for the best part — finding his person. ❤️

This approximately 3½-year-old Great Dane mix (not yet spayed) came to us at the end of the line at another shelter, and she’s more than ready for a fresh start.

She’s incredibly sweet, calm, and easy to love. The kind of dog that just wants to be near you and be part of your world.

Wynona does have a few medical things we’re working through with our vet, and she’s already starting to put weight back on and feel better every day.

She’s a really, really good dog who deserves a stable home and someone in her corner.

This beautiful 7-year-old girl, Desierto, came to us after leaving an unsafe and abusive home. She was literally abandoned in the middle of a contentious divorce and found alone in Landers.

Desi went into one of our foster homes, but the other cats weren’t exactly welcoming committee material. She was bullied and spent most of her time hiding under a bed. 💔

Luckily for all of us, Desi is back in the Cat Lounge—and WOW, what a difference! She is SO happy. In fact, she’s usually the very first cat to greet you when you walk in.

Come hang out with Desi. Give her some love, let her show you what a sweet girl she is, and maybe—just maybe—you’ll be the person who gives her what she’s been waiting for all along.

She deserves a forever home where she can finally settle in, be loved, and make this her last stop!

Frida and her son, Pablo, were rescued together from the streets of Los Angeles, and now she’s waiting for her forever home.

Frida is a little shy at first, but once she’s comfortable, she loves playing with the other cats in our cat lounge. Give her a spring toy or a fuzzy mouse, and she’s perfectly happy entertaining herself for hours.

With her adorable little mustache and those big, curious eyes, she’s impossible not to fall for. She would make a sweet and happy addition to a loving home.

Who has always wanted a one-eyed kitty? Meet Cupid! 💘

Cupid came to us from Yucca Valley with half of an eyeball remaining after an old injury. Our friends at YV did everything they could for this sweet girl, but knew she would recover more comfortably with us.

We had the remainder of her eye removed, and this little angel is doing SO much better! She’s currently living the good life in a foster home, where she’s discovering just how wonderful being loved can be.

Cupid doesn’t let having one eye slow her down one bit. She’s happy, thriving, and ready to find the forever family she deserves.
